Everything is subjective :) If that example I showed was used in context (ie; it’s only X wide on a screen) then the whitespace will look ok to most people. When you’re of course viewing a super-sized full size image here on Medium then the whitespace will look off as it was not designed to be viewed that large. Yeah it’s a tricky one to present visually that one.
